Ok so I said I was going to be posting more often, I’ve been extremely busy. I’ve taken up homebrewing and I’m making my own mead (honey wine). And today I drove 11 hours to Harlingen to visit a friend of mine. So for the next week I’m definitely not going to be posting or writing anything useful for the next week.

Gym

So I finally got tired of being out of shape and smoking so much, so I went out and joined a gym earlier this week. First time there was yesterday and I’m sore all over today. For whatever reason, call it my masochistic side, it feels good. It makes me think that I’m actually accomplishing something. Even though I’m sore today and hating every minute of it I am going back tomorrow and plan to go every other day. This will be one project I don’t drop or get bored with. Here’s hoping that within three months I’ll be feeling better. That’s it for now.

So i was supposed to go out to a air museum today and grab some photos, but the downpour that we had all morning prevented me from doing so. On the plus side it gave me more time to get my hackintosh up and running and configured. What that basically means is I have OSX 10.5.2 running on a spare box in my room and I must say wow. I am by no means a mac fanboy but I am a geek and as a geek I am pretty impressed. I’m toying with the idea of setting it up for my dad who has no idea how to turn a computer on. Now it’s bedtime, so that’s it for now.

Tomorrow after work a friend and I are going to an airshow. The Wings of Freedom are in town and my friend knows a few pilots and staff workers out there so we might even get to ride for free. I will be taking my camera and posting any pictures I take. Here’s hoping I don’t get sick.

Quiet Weekend

So this weekend started out nice and quiet. I started laundry, cleaned up around the house, and was chilling. Then I get a call from a friend that’s in town and on leave from the AirForce, so you know that means I have to go out and hang out with him. Needless to say I didn’t get home until about 3 in the morning. Had a blast catching up with him. Anyways that’s it for now.

Sorry that there has been no activity for awhile. It’s been pretty busy for me all around. Work has been busy which is nice. Also my business has started to pick up lately which is always good. Means more money for me, but means less time to spend it. Not necessarily a bad thing right now. So as a recap I went to Albuquerque a few weeks ago to visit a friend of mine, turned out to be pretty fun I was only there for a few days but it was what I needed. I’ve got a possible work contract with a school here; it’ll be a nice way to jump into doing more contracts for the school districts around here. Last weekend I actually had a chance to go out and have a few drinks with some friends. This next part for anyone that knows me will not believe it, but I promise you it’s true. I started talking to a girl there and actually didn’t make too big of an idiot of myself. I must have done ok since we talked for a long time. Oh and we even danced. Was I a good dancer? No. Did I look like a complete idiot dancing? Yes. Did I care? No. Anyways that’s it for now I guess. I’ll try and start updating my regularly.

There was no drunken driving thankfully, if there had been I think that I might have had to beat some people up or fight for the keys. Anyways next post will be from New Mexico.

Ok so I’ve finally pegged a day or two or three to go to Albuquerque next week. I’ll be out there Tuesday through Thursday. So much to do so little time. At least I already know my new car can make the trip. Went to Austin and back no problems, actually was really suprised when I looked at the MPG reading, it was sitting at 39.4. Just leaves me more money to play with when I get there. I wish I could take my puppy with me but she hasn’t been in a car that long since I got her. Well time to go figure up taxes and transfer money around in my accounts so I have enough for the trip next week.

Long Weekend

This has been one busy weekend, I’m really suprised. I hung out with a few friends, some old some new. I also found out today that one of my great-uncles passed away Saturday. Kind of sucks having bad news like that after a fun weekend. I plan on going to his funeral on Wednesday if I can get the time off for it. I haven’t seen this uncle in maybe 5 years but I do remember him very well. I still remember how he always had peanut brittle in his house everytime I went over there I could get some. He also had this annoying little poodle, used to bite me and nip at my heels. Very mean dog. One good thing about next week is that after that it’s spring break, even for me. After that I’ll be heading to Albuquerque to visit a friend of mine, it’s my turn to visit him seeing how he’s come here twice so far. I won’t be staying long just for the weekend. Now that I know what kind of mileage my car gets, I want to travel even more now. I have already started saving up money and making plans to move down to Austin in a year. I finally came to realize that with all that has happened to me here, it’s not a good place for me to stay. It’s hard as hell to hide out in this town, especially when you know so many people. That’s it for now.

Snow and More Snow

This morning I wake up to the news telling me it’s snowing outside, I look outside and see nothing. I get ready for work not even thinking twice and step outside to go to my car, turn right around and go back inside and grab my coat. It’s snowing, and it snowed all day. Nothing stuck but the people in this town still drove like a bunch of idiots. For some reason any time this city gets some kind of bad weather everyone forgets how to drive. As I’m writing this the sun has finally come out, so that’s it for today. Yea I know pretty boring but meh had to write something.

Weekend

Recently I set out on a task of redoing my network setup here at home. Redoing my server and laptops. I’m almost done with the shuffle. I’ve gotten my server rebuilt and acting as a print server now. Printer is now successfully shared across my entire network and working great. Next on my list is to build a router box, the built in features of my router are great but I want more control and options. I’m also going to Austin this weekend. Next month I’m going to go to Albuquerque to visit a friend of mine. We’ll see how that goes. Anyways that’s it for now, I’m out.

Past few weeks

Ok so I promised I would actually write something on this blog of mine. I’ve honestly been too busy to even think of my own name let alone a compelling or funny post. So instead I will tell you what my past two weeks have been like. Couple of weekends ago I got a chance to drive a ‘07 vette down to Austin for $300; they paid for gas and meals and paid me that money on top of it. Of course I took the offer and took a small road trip that weekend. That was definitely the most fun I’ve had in a car in a long time. Believe it or not that car does get 30mpg at 110mph. I got down there and ended up staying with a friend of mine over night, seems like they also wanted me to drive a ’06 Escalade back home. I joke about that weekend now being the hardest work I’ve had all year. I mean it was just mean that they let me drive a vette down there, but I had to drive an escalade back. I would have preferred it the other way around. I do have pics of the vette and will post them before too long.

Aside from that weekend it’s been kind of un-eventful, except at work of course. There were typical problems, and not so typical problems. Feel like I’ve been doing more each day than I did all last year. On a good note my puppy Freckles has been eating more recently. For the past month she hasn’t really wanted to eat anything and that had me real worried. She now has an even more healthy appetite than before, and she’s still her loving self.

I’ve also gotten my business off the floor and running now, I’ve only had two clients so far. Hopefully it will pick up in the future, and then I will have more time to do my own things. Anyways before I start rambling that’s it for now. Drop me a line if you feel like it.

Online “Journalists” aka Bloggers

There are so many self proclaimed online “journalists” on the internet these days. I do not claim to be anything more than a person that likes to write from time to time. I have no formal education in journalism; I do however have a high school education which included English and Composition. However with how easy it is today to start up a blog on the internet everyone can have a voice. Whether or not they have anything worthwhile to say is completely up to the reader of that site. If they like what they read they come back and read some more. I write not to please my audience or drive traffic to my site, I write to calm my mind and gripe about the things that I think are wrong in my community or the world. With the proliferation of the internet and authoring software some bloggers these days haven’t even lost all of their baby teeth. I personally think that it’s a great thing that technology has come this far, but at the same time you get malicious people posting some really stupid things, or not researching sources that they quote. The only bloggers I’m talking about are the ones that think because they can use the spell check function in Microsoft Word or whatever else they might be using should be treated and revered as journalists. I don’t think that just because you put up a blog, get a good design, and start posting anything that pops into your head qualifies a person as a journalist. Those blogs are just a more public journal than anything else.

I will say that I have a love of the written language. It allows people to keep certain thoughts, ideas, stories, or anything else for future generations to read and learn about the past. What I’m writing right now is more of a rant than anything that should be taken as gospel or seriously. I enjoy technology and love the fact that the internet can connect two people divided by an ocean and they can learn about each other’s cultures. It can connect families with loved ones overseas that normally wouldn’t be able to talk to each other except maybe once a week if they are lucky. It allowed knowledge to flow freely to anyone that wants to learn it. Unfortunately it also allows ideas that are deemed socially unacceptable or taboo to become more popular or at least allow those people to connect with one another. Like anything that is good in this world there is always something out there that will pervert that idea or raise moral questions about it. I see that as a fact of life, it’s going to happen.

I’m going to leave my rant at this for now; otherwise I run the risk of having a poorly written novel on the subject. No one wants to read that much on my website I can guarantee that. So I’ll stop here with a simple, Peace Out.

Newish Car Smell

Well I finally got a new car, thanks to good luck and my dad. I am the owner of an 01 Mercury Cougar. It’s a nice car considering we picked it up at auction. However it makes my problem that I’ve been having at my apartment complex a little more of a problem. Seems like my dumbass neighbor likes parking in my spot all the time or telling her friends to. I’ve already had one of her friends towed by the off-duty cop. She decided to fight that one saying they weren’t, that’s kind of a losing battle, arguing with an off-duty cop in this town. Well tonight she let it happen again, so I decided to start taking pictures of the offending cars and post them here. Hell I might make it a weekly event. So let’s get this started with the first picture. Here’s it is.

Newish Car

Well I’ve been trying for the past few weeks to get a new car, get financing and whatnot on it. Today I find out if I get it or not. Would be nice to have my own car again especially since the only other car I had we sold at auction. Wish me luck.

Turkey Day

Well folks it’s turkey day again here in the US. That day when most people eat way to much food, sit in front of a tv and watch football game after football game as they pass in and out of consciousness. Not me though, I”m busy working on my Aunt’s computer so she can make DVDs of all her pictures. It could be worse I could be cleaning up after all the cooking. Now it’s nice and sunny here in Nebraska, but I get a call from my dad back in Texas and it’s been snowing there since about 9 this morning. I’m missing it all of course, just my luck. I’ve got a few projects on the back burner and have been working on them bit by bit while I’ve been here and when I’ve had time to work on them with family being here and all. Few new websites that I will be rolling out with by January that are going to be geared certain hobbies of mine. Hopefully some of them will gather a community so I won’t have to spend every waking moment updating content and the scripts, we’ll see just how smart of an idea this will be. Anyways that’s it for now.

Thanksgiving Trip

Well we left yesterday morning pretty early to make it here on time, and here we are now in Nebraska. Visiting with aunts and uncles I haven’t seen for a long time and with cousins and their kids. And wouldn’t you know it, it decided to snow on us this morning. I came from Texas where it was 81F and here I’m in Nebraska and it snowed. Anyways that’s it for now.

Current Happenings

A lot has been going on since my last post. I’ve taken a look at a college here that offers all their classes on line which will help me out immensely since I do not plan on quitting my job just to go to school. I’m selling my truck, pulled out the stereo and everything else in it today, aired up the tire, and got it ready to go to auction. I’m hoping to use the money from it to put a down payment on a used car I looked at over the weekend that I really liked. I was actually able to talk the salesman down $3,000 from the original price. The salesman and I even got to talking about what I did for a living and he’s got a business proposition for a website he wants to get setup. He doesn’t want to pay me a flat fee for the website he would prefer to give me a percentage of the sales. I’ll have to figure out exactly what he’s wanting before I commit to that. I’ve gone down that road before and it doesn’t always mean that you make any money. I’m supposed to meet with a sub-contractor that I use for webhosting and other services tomorrow to discuss it with him. On top of that I have a few other web projects coming in that promise to pay at least $3,000 a piece so that down payment will get me the car, and the other jobs will get it paid off, plus I will have quite a bit extra to throw into savings.

Things are starting to look up after so much time being down. It’s been a rough year all around for me and my family. I’m not going to go into details about all the little things that made this year the year of hell for me and my family. I’m getting ready for a trip up to Nebraska next week to see my aunt on my mom’s side. She had a stroke recently and lost some of her memories so I’m going to stomach my desire to never see my grandma again and go to see my aunt. It should be interesting to say the least. I’m hoping that something good comes from it.

I’m planning on doing a site redesign within the next month or two so expect something new by Christmas. Of course I say that now, knowing me I’ll get busy or put it off and not get anything done until February. Anyways that’s it for now.
